2x2 Furring Strips Construction Cost |
Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION Construction estimating unit cost for 2x2 furring strips applied to upper story masonry walls using .22 cartridge nails. You can use this assembly for application of new furring strips over brick or masonry walls, or for construction of a new interior "floating" wall inside any exterior wall surface. NOTE-- This is a variable-height unit cost that multiplies labor and material quantities by the actual basement wall height (from the Basic Dimensions screen) and first story stud spacing (from the Structural Dimensions screen). Unit Size One lineal foot of wall. Labor Costs We figure about 10 lineal feet of wall per carpenter hour, plus a little unskilled help. Material Costs 7 feet of furring strips per foot of wall plus a few shim shingles and .22 cartridge nails. Suggested Quantity Goldenseal suggests the length of exterior second story walls from the Basic Dimensions screen. Source of Construction Pricing Based on job costing data from several urban remodeling projects done by Turtle Creek Construction. HINT-- We installed some of the projects with hand-driven masonry nails, which has a slightly higher labor cost and a slightly lower material cost. For estimating purposes the price difference is minor.
