2x3 Ceiling Framing Cost |
Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION Construction estimating unit cost for ceiling joists framed with 2x3 lumber (we've also heard them called ceiling rafters). This unit cost generally applies to halls, closets, bathrooms and other areas with less than a 5 ft span. Unit Size One square foot of ceiling area. Labor Costs We figure that a skilled carpenter can frame about 67 square feet of ceiling area per hour, with a little help from an unskilled worker. Labor costs are based on 24" joist spacing. The price is adjusted if there is a different spacing for ceiling framing in the Structural Dimensions screen. Material Costs The cost includes 0.64 lineal feet of lumber per square foot of area. That includes basic 24" joist spacing with some additional materials for cross bracing, framing for lights and loss at the ends. The price is adjusted if there is a different spacing for ceiling framing in the Structural Dimensions screen. Suggested Quantity Based on the framing ceiling area from the Structural Dimensions screen. You'll probably need to calculate this quantity by hand, unless the entire project uses this size of ceiling framing. NOTE-- If your ceilings are attached to roof trusses or the upstairs floor joists, you do not need to enter ceiling framing. This unit cost applies only when there is an independent 'hung' ceiling framing. Source of Construction Pricing Based on job cost data from Turtle Creek Construction.
