1x3 Basement Wall Furring Cost |
Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION Construction estimating unit cost for 1x3 furring strips applied to a basement masonry wall using .22 cartridge nails. NOTE-- This is a variable-height unit cost that multiplies some quantities by the actual basement wall height (from the Basic Dimensions screen) and basement stud spacing (from the Structural Dimensions screen). Unit Size One lineal foot of wall. Labor Costs We figure 10 lineal feet of wall per carpenter hour, plus a little unskilled help. Material Costs 7 feet of furring strips per foot of wall plus a few shim shingles and .22 cartridge nails. This assumes an 8 foot ceiling height, with 16" spacing and a little extra for corners, windows etc. Suggested Quantity Goldenseal suggests the length of exterior basement walls from the Basic Dimensions screen. Source of Construction Pricing Based on job costing data from several basement remodeling projects done by Turtle Creek Construction. HINT-- We installed some of the projects with hand-driven masonry nails in cinderblock foundation walls, which has a slightly higher labor cost and a slightly lower material cost. For estimating purposes the price difference is insignificant.
