Data Entry Crashes |
Problem While doing large-scale data entry in Goldenseal estimating software versions 4.7 and earlier, there would sometimes be unexpected quits, after the wrong combination of typing and copy/paste actions. Caught By Turtlesoft code review. Workaround None. You can reopen Goldenseal and continue use with no problems. Solution This is a bug that has been around since the very first version of Goldenseal construction estimating software, and we finally tracked it down. It is due to a subtle design flaw in the "undo" handling, within PowerPlant code that we use as a framework. NOTE-- Some other Macintosh software is also based on PowerPlant, and will also suffer from the subtle bug that causes this problem. If you experience data entry crashes in other Mac programs after a mix of typing and copy/paste, let their developers know that we have a solution! Technical Details Programmer note-- code changed in LEditField::HandleInput |
