Setup
This feature uses some optional fields that you'll
need to add to the Change Order or Allowances layout.
You'll be able to copy and paste them from the Estimates
layout.
First, you'll move the button that shows the breakdown
window:
- Choose Custom Layouts from the Options
menu, and choose Transactions from the submenu.
- Enter Estimates into the Transaction
popup field at upper left.
- Enter Items into the Layout popup field at upper left.
- Click on the Cost Summary button in the middle of the layout.
- Choose Copy from the Edit menu.
- Enter Change Orders into the Transaction popup field at
upper left.
- Enter Items into the Layout popup field at upper left.
- Choose Paste from the Edit menu, then move the button to
a convenient location.
Next, you'll add the breakdown window:
- Enter Estimates into the Transaction popup field
at upper left.
- Enter Costs into the Layout popup field at upper
left.
- Choose Select All from the Edit menu.
- Choose Copy from the Edit menu.
- Enter Change Orders into the Transaction popup
field at upper left.
- Choose New Layout from the Edit menu.
- You'll see a dialog asking for a layout name. Type in Costs, then
click OK.
- Choose Paste from the Edit menu.
- Click on the Per Unit title, and choose Clear
from the Edit menu to remove it.
- Close the Custom Layouts window, and click Save when
you are asked to save changes.
How to Use
After you have added the custom button and custom breakdown
window, here's how to see a cost breakdown, whenever
you are in a Change Order that has an Item breakdown:
- Click the Cost Summary button.
- View a breakdown by labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment
and other costs.
NOTE-- Change Orders do not have a project size,
so they can't show a cost per area like Estimates do. Technical Details
