Clean Up Commands

We have added more functions to the Clean Up Record and Clean Up Records commands.

You can use them to fix internal problems in records, while using Goldenseal accounting software versions 3.2 and later.

How to Use

To fix a single record, follow these steps:

  1. Open the record that is having problems.
  2. Choose Security from the View menu, and choose Clean Up Record from the submenu.
  3. Goldenseal accounting software will check the record and fix any problems that it finds.

To fix all found records for an account or transaction class, follow these steps:

  1. Open the record window for the type of record that is having problems.
  2. Use the Find command to locate the records you want to fix. Choose Find All from the Edit menu to fix all records.
  3. Choose Security from the View menu, and choose Clean Up Records from the submenu.
  4. Goldenseal accounting software will check the records and fix any problems that it finds

To fix problems in a breakdown class, follow these steps:

  1. Close all account and transaction windows.
  2. Choose Security from the View menu, and choose Clean Up Records from the submenu.
  3. Goldenseal will show you a list of breakdown classes. Choose the type of record you'd like to fix.
  4. Goldenseal accounting software will check the records and fix any problems that it finds

Technical Details

We would love to write perfect code that never has problems. But since we sometimes screw up and create bugs that damage records, we also have a Clean Up Record command that fixes any previous problems in your data.

As we turn up any type of problem in user files or our own company data, we'll add code to fix it, in the Clean Up commands. We have also added some general fixing code that tidies up data in the record, even if we have never heard of problems there.
