Estimating Dimension Formulas

Problem

"I do a transfer from a Hyper into MacNail. When I open the MacNail estimate, I find that the numbers are all correct in dimensions- but the formulas are missing!

Loses dimension formulas when importing from Hyper Estimator to MacNail estimating software

Diagnosis

That's how it works, unfortunately. A cell in an XL worksheet can have a value, or a formula used to calculate that value, but not both. If they really want the formulas back in, they need to copy them from a MacNail Estimator. However, this may change the numbers in the dimensions summary.

Solution

To copy formulas back in: select a range of cells in an UNPROTECTED estimate or estimator, which have the relevant formulas; choose Copy. Then switch to the target Estimate, select the SAME range of cells, choose Paste Special..., with the "Formulas" button checked. This will put back the formulas, and overwrite any existing values in MacNail construction estimating software.
