Problem
'not enough memory', can't open large files
or many files
in MacNail construction
software
Diagnosis
First try to open the file with the regular Excel Open command.
It will give a more descriptive error message **
If it still says 'out of memory', solve the memory problem. See
also TA 410 (can't open xl 1.5 with xl5) or TA 436 (damaged worksheet)
Solution
If Excel 1.5-- upgrade to newer version.
If Excel 2.2+ and MultiFinder or System 7-- give Excel additional memory--see item 134 for details
can also try closing some worksheets to free up RAM
If System 7 and mystery memory problems, restart and hold down the Shift key while it's booting. That will disable
system extensions, which may be hogging memory

** programming note: if the Excel OPEN() command doesn't work, our code puts up an 'out of
memory' message. That's usually the cause of the problem but not always. Using the regular Excel Open...
command will tell you the exact problem
