Duplicating Managers

Problem

how to work with a duplicate or backup copy of Managers, Excel etc for MacNail construction accounting software
due to 'code change' bug, file corruption problems, etc

NOTE-- This answer applies to MacNail construction software, which we retired in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal estimating software and accounting software for Macintosh and Windows.

Diagnosis

User has to frequently replace a manager or the Excel application. How to keep a copy on the hard drive instead, so it won't have to be installed from the original floppy disk

Solution

1. Install the Manager or other file.
2. Set the main files, set up payroll options and any other things stored in the Manager.
3. Close the Manager.
4. Switch to the File Manager.
5. Find the file, and select it by clicking on its icon.
6. From the File menu, choose Copy. Give it a new name, for example ACCOUNTS.XLZ or whatever.

TO REPLACE A DAMAGED FILE WITH ITS COPY:
1. Click on the damaged file.
2. Choose Delete from the File menu, then click OK.
3. Click on the backup ACCOUNTS.XLZ or whatever.
2. Choose Copy from the File menu.
3. Type in the original name (ACCOUNTS.XLM or whatever) then click OK.
