Save a Copy

Problem

In version 4.6 of Goldenseal small business accounting software, we made some changes that wiped out the Save a Copy command in the Windows version (the Macintosh version is fine). It just gives an error message and does ot let you save a copy of your file, while running Goldenseal.

User bug report.

Workaround

You can still make file copies in the Windows Explorer, by doing the following:

  1. If you are running Goldenseal, choose Exit from the File menu.
  2. Locate your company file on your computer's hard drive. NOTE-- it may be in My Documents, or wherever you decided to put it.
  3. Click just one time on the file icon.
  4. Click the Organize button, and choose Copy.
  5. Click the Organize button, and choose Paste.
  6. Click the Organize button, choose Rename, and give the copy a new name.

Solution

Starting with Goldenseal accounting software version 4.7, Save a Copy works properly again. It's also fine in Goldenseal 4.5 and earlier.

Programmer note-- we went back to the original FileSpec definition.
