Register Tables

Feature

This is an anti-feature change! For a long time we thought we might add a register view to Goldenseal, with one-line or two-line views of records in a scrolling list, much like a checkbook register. However, that notion would have caused problems with records that use a breakdown. Once we added the ability to double-click on records in a Reports to see that record, there was also less need for a scrolling list.

So, register tables are now gone, and we are gradually removing all references to them in the interface.

How to Use

If you want to see a checkbook register, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Banking from the Reports menu, and choose Checking Transactions from the submenu.
  2. If you would like, use the report controls to determine the types of records to show.
  3. Click the Update button.
  4. You'll see a list of all checkbook transactions (or a list of just some transactions, depending on the controls).
  5. To see or change any transaction, double-click on it.
  6. Goldenseal will open the data entry window for that transaction.
