Markup on Project Phases

Feature

Starting with Goldenseal 4.1, you have the option to apply "percent of material" and "percent of labor" markups to the items in a Project Phase.

How to Use

Each Project Phase record includes a checkbox, so you can determine whether to apply markup from the main Estimate to the items in the Project Phase.

To set the markup calculation, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Project Phases from the Income menu.
  2. Locate the Phase you want to change.
  3. Click the More Info button.
  4. Turn off the Skip Estimates Markup button if you want the markup from the main Estimate to apply to the Project Phase. Turn it on, if you are using separate markup in the Phase.
  5. Click OK.

NOTE: Percent of Total and Percent of Hard Costs line items in the main Estimate will always apply to Project Phases. The only items controlled by the Skip Markup checkbox are Percent of Equipment, Percent of Labor, Percent of Materials, Percent of Other, and Percent of Subs.

Technical Details

There is also a Skip Estimates Markup checkbox in Bids and Allowances, but right now it is an optional field. If you want to skip markup in some Bids or Allowances, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Custom Layouts from the Options menu, and choose Transactions from the submenu.
  2. Enter Bids (or Allowances) into the Transaction popup field at upper left.
  3. Click on the Field tool in the palette on the left side of the window (4th row left).
  4. Click in an empty portion of the layout, and drag a rectangle.
  5. You'll see a list of fields. Choose Skip Estimates Markup, then click OK.
  6. Close the layout, and save changes.
