Estimate Category Systems

Problem

Estimates will sometimes show the wrong set of categories in the breakdown table.

This happens when the Category System field in the Estimate is set to one category system, and the Customer account has a different category system. It can also happen for Prospects, if the category system in the Estimate is different from the default category system.

This bug occurs only in version 3.6 of Goldenseal estimating software. It's a new bug introduced when we made a small change in the display of Category Systems (an improvement for everything except Estimates).

Caught By

User bug report.

Workaround

To fix it temporarily, click the More Info button, and then click OK.

You can also choose Category Setup from the Costs menu, and then choose Switch System from the submenu. Enter the category system you want to use, then click OK.

Solution

This is fixed in version 3.7 of the Goldenseal construction estimating software program.

Technical Details

Goldenseal "links" each window to a different category system. For expense transactions, it gets the category system from the job account. If no job is listed, Goldenseal uses the category system from the vendor account instead. For estimates, we have a separate Category System field. Most other transactions get their category system from either the job account or the main account.
